Sabotaging Your Home Security System
Americans are famous for our small attention spans. We tend to focus on something intensely and then more or less ignore it a couple of weeks later. This is very much the case with home security systems. I can't tell you how many people I know that have alarm systems in stalled at their home, but don't arm them when they leave to go shopping or whatever. It begs the question of what was the point in getting the system in the first place! Regardless, there are a couple of common ways you might be imperiling the security of your home. Let's take a look at them. The first method of self-sabotage occurs on warm days. What do most people do on these days? They open their windows! There is nothing wrong with this so long as you remember to close all the windows when you leave. If you do not, you are practically begging to be robbed. An open window will look like a blinking neon sign to a thief, so take the time to close them. The open garage is a classic mistake as well. I know people who consider opening the garage door to be part of their morning ritual. They open it and leave it open for hours on end, sometimes even all day!
